NIA to probe 2023 Poonch terror attack

New Delhi: The NIA will probe last year’s terrorist attack on an Army convoy in J&K’s Poonch that left five soldiers dead, officials said on Tuesday. The probe would ascertain any “common angle” in the attack with recent terrorist attacks in the UT, the officials said. — PTI

Referring to the deaths of the five soldiers, Aramane said, “Their selfless service to the nation will always be remembered and their sacrifice will not go unavenged. India will defeat the evil forces behind the attack.”

The statement was posted on X by a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence.

In a post on X, Rajnath expressed “deep anguish” over loss of lives of the five Army soldiers and added that counter-terrorist operations were on. “Our soldiers are determined to usher in peace and order in the region,” the minister said a day after an Army truck was ambushed in Kathua. Rajnath posted on X, “Deeply anguished at the loss of five of our brave Indian Army soldiers in a terrorist attack in Badnota, Kathua (J&K).”

He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and added that the nation stood firm with them in this difficult time. He said he prayed for the speedy recovery of those who injured in the attack. Meanwhile, the NIA will probe last year’s terrorist attack on an Army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch that left five personnel dead, officials said on Tuesday.
