At a time when people are busy celebrating the festival of lights, a unit of the Indian Army, 2 Army Dog, in Jalandhar Cantt was busy in distributing clothes and sweets to poor and underprivileged people of this area.
The 2 Army Dog unit here in Jalandhar Cantt celebrated Diwali in a different way. The unit distributed clothes to around 250 poor, handicapped and underprivileged people. The chief guest on the occasion was Col Pradeep Poonia. He appreciated the efforts of the unit and extended Diwali greetings to everyone.
The 2 Army Dog is the same unit, which conducted Yoga with Dogs this year on International Yoga Day. 2 Army Dog is the only dog unit in the Western Command area of responsibility. It is the oldest and highly decorated dog unit of the Indian Army. The unit along with their handlers has been awarded 2 Sena Medal Gallantry (Posthumous), Chief of Army Staff Commendation, Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation, Army Commander Commendation and GOC Corps appreciation.
