Army service selection centre to open at Rupnagar: Lt Gen Singh

CHANDIGARH: The army will start civil works for setting up Service Selection Centre (North) at Rupnagar, Lieutenant General Surinder Singh, GOC-in-C of Western Command, informed chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday.

The commander of the Western Command said that army was running the provisional campus of SSC at Kapurthala and it will be shifted to Rupnagar after the work was completed. The Punjab government had given 200 acres for the centre. During the meeting, the CM assured Lt Gen Singh of support and cooperation from the state government for financial assistance to Sainik School, Kapurthala.
